September Sprint for Project Dashboard Re-design

  • Developer: Alejandro
  • Leadership Sponsor: Ed

Sprint Objective

The objective for this sprint is to align the Beta Project Dashboard with the User Interface Guidelines being used by the other pages, and to make changes that result from these guidelines.

This page focuses on the re-design of the project dashboard. The intention of this re-design is to bring the most useful and frequently used information and reports to the forefront of the project collaboration space.

Tasks

  1. New dashboard page concept image by Dorothy (done).
  2. Work with Deepak to use the menu and left sidebar infrastructure that have been used on the other pages... the "old" project dashboard uses this infrastructure.
  3. Move the items currently in the left column to other spots on the dashboard.
  4. Make several other small UI changes.

Description of page Layout

Left Column (sidebar)

  1. A blue tab with the word "Dashboard" in it
  2. The information currently in the "grey" box in the beta dashboard... Name, description, manager, status, etc. This will be in white space beneath the blue tab
  3. A grey box with "Modify Project info" link
  4. A separate grey box with the following links:
    1. Subprojects
    2. Reports
    3. News
    4. n late tasks
    5. n tasks coming due
    6. n unassigned tasks
    7. n tasks completed
  5. The Project News Channel
  6. The Upcoming meetings channel
  7. End of column 1

Middle Column

  1. A channel titled: Last 12 Project Changes (This channel will contain documents, forms, discussions, and hopefully blog and wiki changes. The blog and wiki changes should not be worked on until everything else is complete) Each line should contain:
    1. Clickable reference to change
    2. Type of ojject (Doc, Form, Discussion,...
    3. Person that made the change
    4. Date of the change
  2. Phases and Milestones Channel
  3. Subproject Channel
  4. End Middle column
  5. Right Column
  6. Schedule Channel... contains the schedule table and chart
  7. Directory Channel... Contains current content Title of Directory Channel is: Directory: n people) Teammates and resources terms are removed..
    1. Change "Assignments" To "Assigned", and put both the link to the assignments and the calendar under the assigned column.
    2. Add a new column - Blog... the content of the column will be a clickable link with the date of the last blog post. Clicking on the date takes you to the project blog filtered by that persons name. If there are no blog posts, the space is blank, if there is a post, use the same date strategy as the new personal assignments page. If the person has had an "important" blog post in the last 24 hours, the date is rendered in red instead of blue.
    3. Clicking on the name takes you to their personal blog page. (as it does from the directory of a project now)
