Description

Project baselines are a way to gain understanding into how projects change and why they change. Following are some aspects that would be good to capture through baselines:

  • Graphical comparison scheduled time vs actual time in a project:
    • have the ability to show where overruns/ahead of schedule come from
      • Task took less/more time than expected
      • Change in project scope (items added or removed from schedule after basdeline
    • *Changes in staffing (size of team or different employeess)

Details

  • The Manager should have the ability to force explanations to be entered in to the system for Change orders (changes in scope), changes in staffing, and changes in task length. These will be used for reporting.

Reports

  • The ability to separately track schedule alterations for: changes in task length, scope changes, and other.
    • Reports should be able to track multiple changes per item
    • Tie cost into reports
      • How much did the change orders cost.
      • how much was spent on overruns
    • *Sould be able to report on individual developer changes in task length
